the VLC plugin is no longer supported by most internet browsers. this is a problem that should be solved by Q2 of 2018, for now, we have found that the ESR version of fire fox will work for both Windows and Mac. a link to the ESR of Firefox can be found HERE. if you are having issues with your Mac to get this to work please follow the following steps:

  1. Uninstall FireFox
  2. Uninstall VLC
  3. Download the newest FireFox ESR 52 Release
  4. Download the newest VLC edition
  5. Download the VLC Web Plugin (Link provided at the bottom)
  6. Install FireFox ESR 52
  7. Launch FireFox ESR 52 to allow it to verify
  8. Close FireFox ESR 52
  9. Install VLC
  10. Launch VLC to allow it to verify
  11. Close VLC
  12. Install the VLC web plugin
  13. Launch Firefox ESR and enjoy viewing the camera directly from the Firefox browser

Note that if you have any issues at this point you can verify that the VLC plugin has been enabled in Firefox by going to the "Tools" --> "Add-ons" --> "Plugins" and verifying that it is currently set to "Always Activate".
